How-To: Enter a summation expression with an upper limit - OpenOffice.org Math
  1. To enter a summation expression with an upper limit, first click on the "math commands window" here.
  2. Now, once the cursor appears, type in the word "sum." This should display the summation symbol.
  3. Then, press space and type in the word "to."
  4. Good! Now press space again and type in the upper limit that you want. In this case we are typing in "infinity" for the infinity symbol.
  5. Afterwards, press space again and type in the expression or sequence that you want to use for the summation.
  6. In this example we have entered the sequence "x sun n." Enclose the expression in "braces" or "curly brackets" like this.
  7. Great! We have entered a summation expression with an upper limit. Congratulations!
