Enter an exponential function - OpenOffice.org Math

How-To: Enter an exponential function - OpenOffice.org Math
  1. To enter an exponential function, first click on the "math commands window" here.
  2. Next, type in the word "func"
  3. Next, press space and type in the letter "e" for "Euler's Number" the mathematical constant for this function.
  4. Afterwards, type in a "caret" (^). Do this by holding the shift key and pressing the "number 6" key once. Then, release the shift key.
  5. Now, type in the variable that you want to use for the exponential function.
  6. In this case, we are going to use "x." Type in "x" enclosed in braces or "curly brackets" like this.
  7. Good! We have entered the expression "e to the power of x."
  8. Take note that you can change variable into its own expression as well.
  9. Do this by simply erasing the current variable and typing in the expression that you want.
  10. Great! As you can see we have changed the exponent variable to "a+b."
  11. Congratulations! You have learned how to enter an exponential function.
