How-To: Update the formatting of a style and apply it - OpenOffice.org
  1. To update or change a style and apply it, first you need to format the text with that style applied.
  2. To demonstrate this, we shall make changes to this heading by increasing its indentation. First, we click on it once to select it.
  3. Next, we increase its indentation by clicking on the "Increase Indent" button here.
  4. Good! We have changed this heading.
  5. Take note that the heading we changed, has the paragraph style "Heading 2."
  6. Now, to update the style so that it includes the increase in indentation, we click on the "New Style from Selection" button.
  7. A menu should drop down. Look for the option "Update Style" and click on it once.
  8. Great! We have updated the style!
  9. Notice that the other headings with the "Heading 2" style applied have been updated to match the changes we made.
  10. Congratulations! You have learned how to update a style and apply it to text.
