Set the next style using the style organizer - OpenOffice.org

How-To: Set the next style using the style organizer - OpenOffice.org
  1. Styles can have another style follow it automatically after a new line or paragraph. Some of them have a "Next Style" set as a default.
  2. This screencast demonstrates how to set or change the "next style" that follows a current one. To start, the styles and formatting window must be open. You can do this by pressing "F11" on the keyboard.
  3. Next, look for the style you want to modify and right click over it. In this example we are choosing the style "Heading 2."
  4. Once the context menu opens, click on the option "Modify..."
  5. The window for the options of the selected style should appear.
  6. If it is not open yet, click on the "Organizer" tab here.
  7. Once the organizer tab is open, look for the "Next Style" field and click on its down arrow here.
  8. A list of styles should open. This is where you choose the next style that follows the current one. Just click once on your choice.
  9. For this example we are clicking on "Text Body indent."
  10. Once you're done, click on "OK."
  11. Good! Now to check, notice that this heading has the paragraph style.....
  12. ..."Heading 2." This is the style we modified earlier.
  13. Now, when we press enter, and type in a new paragraph...
  14. You should see that the next style that is automatically applied to the new paragraph is the one we chose earlier.
  15. Congratulations! You have learned how to set the next style that follows a currently selected one.
