How-To: Overview of presentation style options - OpenOffice.org
- This screencast demonstrates the options available when creating or modifying presentation styles.
- First, you need to have the Styles and Formatting window open to access the style options window. You can do this quickly by pressing "F11" on the keyboard.
- Once the window is open, click on the presentation style button here to filter the list to display only presentation styles.
- Next, look for the style that you want to modify, and right click over it.
- On the menu that opens, click on "Modify..."
- The options window for the presenation style should open. Each tab represents the different options that you can change for the presentation style.
- The first tab you should usually see is the font tab.
- This tab lets you set the font style of the text by selecting one from the list here.
- You can also change the typeface here...
- ...and the font size here.
- You can also change the language by clicking on this down arrow here, and choosing one from the list that drops down.
- Good! Now, let's look at the font effects options here.
- The font effects tab lets you add effects like underlines, strikethroughs and change properties like the underline color as well as the font color.
- Just click on their respective "down arrows" here to view the options through their drop down lists.
- You can also add other effects like reliefs, outlines and shadows on the options here.
- Next, we shall look at the "Indents & Spacing" tab.
- This tab lets you adjust the length of the indentations before and after text, including the first line indent.
- You can also adjust the spacings above and below paragraphs here.
- Below, there is also a drop down list that lets you change the spacing in between lines of text.
- Now, we go to the "Bullets" tab here.
- This tab lets you select the standard bullet type for the style you are modifying. Just click on the type you want to use for the style.
- Next, we'll look at the numbering type options.
- This tab lets you choose the default numbering type for the style. You can choose from numbers, letters or roman numerals. Just click on the style you want.
- Next we go to the "Graphics" tab.
- This tab lets you choose from different graphics options that can be used as bullets in a list. Just click on the option you want here.
- Next, we'll look at the customization options using this tab here.
- This tab lets you adjust the settings for each level of an outline or list. You can change the numbering style for each level, the color, relative size and even the characters used.
- Next is the Tab options.
- Here, you can add and remove tab stops, set their positions, their tab types...
- ...you can even add fill characters here.
- Lastly, we shall look at the alignment options here.
- This tab, lets you set the default text alignment for the style. Just click on the option you want.
