How-To: Installing Open Office on Windows
- To start Installing Open Office find your installer file.
- Double-click on the installer file's icon.
- A dialog window appears telling you that certain files must be unpacked for the installation.
- Agree to this by clicking next.
- Wait for the files to unpack.
- Afterwards the Open Office Installation Wizard appears.
- Click next to start the wizard.
- This is the License Agreement for Open Office.
- Please try to read through it thoroughly.
- To continue the installation you must accept the License Agreement.
- Just click "I accept..." to agree with the License Agreement.
- then click next to continue.
- In this next page you need to enter some customer information
- Type the name you prefer.
- You can also put in the name of your company or organization.
- If you want Open Office to be installed for everyone using your computer click here.
- If you want it installed only for your profile click here.
- Afterwards click next.
- Now you must choose which setup type you like.
- The custom option lets you choose the settings and programs you want.
- This is only recommended for advanced users however.
- For typical users, it is better to choose the complete setup option.
- This will give you all the features of Open Office.
- So click on the option Complete.
- Once you have chosen your setup type, click next.
- This next window asks you if you want Open Office to be the one to open Microsoft Office files.
- Click the checkboxes to specify which kind of Microsoft Office document you want Open Office to open.
- Click here to specify Word Documents
- click here to specify Excel Spreadsheets
- and click here to specify PowerPoint Presentations.
- After choosing what you want, click next.
- Now just click Install to start the installation.
- Wait for the installation to finish. It may take a few moments.
- Conratulations! You have succesfully installed Open Office.
- Just click finish to close the installation wizard.
- After installing, it would be a good idea to delete the temporary installation files the installer unpacked.
- Find the unpacked folder. It is usually where you put your installer file as well.
- Right click on the folder and select delete.
- Click yes here to confirm your deletion.
- Once you've deleted the installation folder, you are ready to start Open Office for the first time.
