How-To: Set the default save file format to Microsoft Powerpoint - OpenOffice.org Impress
  1. To set the default file format to Microsoft Powerpoint when saving files in Impress, first click on the "tools" option here.
  2. Then on the menu that opens, click on the option "Options..."
  3. The OpenOffice options dialog window should open.
  4. You should see a menu tree here. First we shall clear things up by clicking on the "minus" sign here to hide the other OpenOffice.org options.
  5. Afterwards, click on the "plus" sign beside the option "Load/Save."
  6. Afterwards, you should see a submenu for the options when loading or saving. Click on the option "General."
  7. Next, look for the default file format options and click on this down arrow here.
  8. This menu lets you choose the document type that we will be changing the save settings for.
  9. In this example, we want to change the save settings for presentations, so we click on the "presentation" option here.
  10. Good! Now to set the default save format for presentations, click on this down arrow here.
  11. In this example we want to set the default save format to microsoft powerpoint format.
  12. So look for the option "Microsoft Powepoint 97/2000/XP" and click on it once.
  13. Afterwards, just click on "OK."
  14. Good! Now to check, click here on the "File" option.
  15. Then, on the menu that drops down, click on the option "Save As..."
  16. As you can see here, the default save format is the Microsoft Powerpoint format. Congratulations!
