How-To: Italicize slide text using the toolbar - OpenOffice.org Impress
  1. To italicize text, first click once over the text block where the text you want to format is located.
  2. Now, select the text you want by clicking and holding the left mouse button on one side of it.
  3. Then, move your mouse through the text to select it. Once done, release the mouse button.
  4. Good. Now, move your mouse here to the toolbar and look for the "Italic" Button. It should have an "I" icon, click on it once.
  5. Great! As you can see, this text has been italicized. Congratulations!
