Paragraph Style
The paragraph style refers to the way a paragraph
appears on screen.
This includes formatting elements, such as the borders,
the font
and size of text, boldness, italicization, underlines and paragraph spacing.
Different paragraph styles are used for different purposes. A heading for example should be different
in form from the body of a text, this would require different paragraph styles for each.
Specific types of documents such as Letters, Agendas,
Reports and Essays
all have parts that normally require different paragraph styles from each other. This emphasizes the difference
in the text, it aids in the organization of content and gives the document an overall style making it look formal or casual,
technical or more creative.
In openOffice.org Writer, there are pre-set paragraph styles that can be used to quickly format paragraphs in some of the more common formats, like headings and the body of text.
Paragraph styles are also related to other style categories
such as thepage style.
