Outline
An text outline is basically a collection of related items or data that are arranged in a list. Usually the list are arranged in an heirarchy which depicts the order and relationships of the items in the outline.
Outlines are usually written via a numbered list.
Writing an outline in this list form gives the reader a greater understanding about the relationships
between the items on the list. Items on a higher level are usually broad concepts, or are
in a higher order than the lower levels on the list which are more specific and in a lower order in the hierarchy.
Outlines are used in many ways. Among the common uses are for research papers or thesis
outlines that show the logical progression of arguments. Some menus in OpenOffice also use an
outline format to demonstrate the different relationships in its options. One particular example
is the Options Dialog Window.
