Nth root

The Nth root of a particular number is basically a smaller number that was multiplied by itself several times (defined by the variable n) to get the original particular number. When n is equal to two, the nth root is called the of the number. When it is three, it is called the cube root. The variable n in an nth root can be defined and can be a number or even an expression.

Illustrated mathematically, the "4th root" of the number 16 is two, since 2^4 = 16. An Nth root is designated by the radical symbol (√) with a small number or variable above it indicating the "power" of the root. Using the example above, we can display it as ^4√16 = 2.
