Math Formula
A formula within OpenOffice.org Math can be coined as a "math formula."
Unlike cell formulas
which are used in
spreadsheets, math formulas offer a more easier way in displaying true mathematical
expressions, functions and of course formulas.
Math formulas are written in OpenOffice.org Math by using a large selection of predefined
symbols and functions that are typically used in various operations in mathematics. Besides the binary
operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, math formulas also support relational
symbols, functions, operators
and other common formats like exponents.
Please remember though that math formulas are used to display the operations only
and they are not used to calculate or solve them. You have to use a spreadsheet like OpenOffice.org
Calc
to solve for formulas.
Math formulas can be created and edited in OpenOffice.org Math and then transfered to other documents
such as a text document
in Writer.
This allows you to integrate mathematical expressions into your documents. If you are familiar with the Math Markup Language
however,
you can actually type in the formula directly into a document.
