Relative Cell Reference
A relative cell reference is the use of a cell's coordinates, row and column in the grid. A relative reference is changed, if columns or rows are inserted or removed.
For example, the formula "=3*B1" contains as second operand
the reference
to the cell "B1" or column "B", row "1".
While this reference
looks absolute, the missing dollar sign, "$", for columns and row indicate
this is a relative reference that is adjusted if needed. OpenOffice.org Calc will
keep the relative distance between the column (row) of the referring cell and the
referenced cell constant.
Cell references can also be
absolute
.
Sometimes referencing is also called addressing, such as relative
addressing and absolute addressing.
A cell can not be relatively referenced through the use of a
name
.
