  1. To insert a line chart, first you must select the cells with the data for it.
  2. Select the cells by first clicking and holding the left mouse button on one end of the cells.
  3. Next, while holding the button move your mouse through the other cells you need selected.
  4. Just release the mouse button once you have selected all that you need.
  5. Afterwards, click here on "Insert."
  6. Then, on the menu that opens click here on "Chart..."
  7. The AutoFormat Chart window should open.
  8. Notice that the cell range you have selected has appeared here. You can still edit this if you think you've made a mistake in selecting. Otherwise leave it be.

  10. Now, here you can choose the type of chart you want to create.
  11. Click here on the lines option to create a line chart.
  12. Notice that a preview of the chart appears here.
  13. Next, choose how the data series was arranged in the worksheet. This is important since the chart will appear wrong if this is not set correctly.
  14. Since the data is arranged in a row, we are clicking on the "Rows" option.
  15. Note that the preview has changed to match your choice.
  16. Just, click "Next" to continue.

  18. For line charts, you can choose from Normal, Stacked, Percent and Symbol variants.
  19. For this example we are choosing the "Symbols" variant. Just click once on the choice.
  20. Then, click next to continue.
  21. Now, here you can choose what else to display along with the chart itself. Just click on the checkboxes for the option you want.
  22. Usually you would want a chart title. Just click on this field and type in the title for your chart here.
